Terms of use

The rules for using SA Logbook and this website, kept as short and plain as we can.

Last updated: 31 October 2026

1. Who we are and these terms

SA Logbook is made by KindlyMade Apps, Pretoria, South Africa ("we", "us"). These terms apply to the SA Logbook Android app and to salogbook.co.za. By using either, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use SA Logbook.

2. What SA Logbook does

SA Logbook helps you keep a travel logbook: it records trips by GPS, lets you mark them business or private, and exports a logbook in a format based on the official SARS eLogbook. SA Logbook is not affiliated with or endorsed by the South African Revenue Service (SARS). The app is not on Google Play yet; we aim to launch before 1 March 2027.

3. Not tax advice

SA Logbook, its calculations (such as claim values at the SARS rate per km and cost-table estimates) and our guides are general information, not tax advice. Tax rules change and depend on your circumstances. You are responsible for your tax return and for checking that your logbook is complete and accurate. For advice, speak to a registered tax practitioner.

4. Your account

Keep your login details safe and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You must be 18 or older. Give us accurate information, and don't misuse the service, try to break its security, or use it for anything unlawful.

5. GPS and accuracy

GPS and phone sensors aren't perfect: weak signal, battery saving or phone settings can affect trip detection and distances. SA Logbook shows the difference between the GPS distance and your odometer readings so you can check and correct trips. Please review your trips; you can edit them at any time.

6. Subscriptions, trial and billing

  • SA Logbook Pro costs R30 a month or R299 a year (prices in rand). Prices may change; we'll tell you before a change affects you.
  • New subscribers get a free trial. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription starts and Google Play charges you.
  • Founding members who subscribe through the launch offer keep R30 a month for as long as their subscription stays active. Details are confirmed at launch.
  • Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play and renew automatically until you cancel in the Google Play app. Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy and your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
  • If you stop paying, you keep your history, your cloud copy and CSV export of all your data, and you can still add trips by hand.

7. Your data

Your logbook belongs to you. We use it only to provide the service, as described in our privacy policy. You can export it or delete your account at any time.

8. Availability and changes

We work hard to keep SA Logbook running and your data backed up, but we can't promise the service will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may improve or change features over time. If we ever have to stop the service, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for tax assessments, penalties or interest that result from information in your logbook or tax return. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other law that can't be excluded.

10. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. Questions or complaints: hello@salogbook.co.za. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version.
